Fall 2008 Season in Review

2008 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
All three boys teams (varsity, junior varsity and fresh/soph) had a combined record of 39 wins, 5 loses, 2 ties.

• Boulder High Varsity finished the fall 2008 with a record setting season:
- Most wins in BHS Boys Soccer’s 28 season history with 14 wins and 3 loses, breaking the previous record of 11 wins (‘00 and ‘94)
- 14 wins is a BVSD record for the most wins by any 5A school
- Best start and longest win streak 9-0
- Highest Colorado 5A pre-season state ranking #6
- Highest Colorado 5A regular-season state ranking #2
- Highest Regional (Far West USA) ranking #15
- Highest Colorado state play-off seed, #7, and for the first time the Panthers hosted two playoff games at home
- Most Shutout in a season (8)
- Fewest goals allowed in a regular season (14)
- Second highest goals scored total (53)

Individual Honors
- ESPN Rise Magazine All Colorado Team: Adam Hinkelman (Sr.)
- Boulder’s first selection to the Rocky Mountain News / Denver Post All-Colorado Team: Adam Hinkelman (Sr.)
- A record of three 5A All-State honorees: Adam Hinkelman (Sr.) – 1st Team, Devin Kuh (Sr.) – HM, Walter Bertini (Jr.) – HM
- Six Daily Camera All-Region honorees: 1st Team: Adam Hinkelman (Sr.). Devin Kuh (Sr.), Grant Marshall (Sr.), Walter Bertini (Jr.), Honorable Mention: Spencer Sarson (Jr.), Max Jaffee (Jr.).
- A league leading 7 All-League honorees – Hinkelman, Kuh and Bertini – 1st Team; Grant Marshall (Sr.), Jeff Hirsch (Sr.) and Spencer Sarson (Jr.) – 2nd Team, Max Jaffee (Jr.) – HM
- 1st Place in the Arapahoe Warriors Invitational Tournament. Boulder High School won the championship game 1-0 vs. Mullen in the finals. The Boulder Junior Varsity won the JV level of the tournament.
- Boulder players named to Arapahoe Warriors Invitational All-Tournament Team: Kuh (Sr.) selected Goalkeeper MVP, Hinkelman (Sr.) selected Defensive MVP, Marshall (Sr.) and Bertini (Jr.) named to the All-Tournament team.
- Academic All-State 1st Team: Andrew Flint (Jr.), Charlie Hager (Sr.), Jeff Hirsch (Sr.), Ian Husted (Sr.), Devin Kuh (Sr.), Alejandro Murillo (Sr.), Spencer Sarson (Sr.),

• Junior Varsity complete a perfect 15-0 season and 1st place in the Front Range League – JV level.

• Fresh/Soph team finished a successful season with a record of 10 wins, 2 loses and 2 ties.
